1,000 word “Long” in calligraphy Chu Dau Ceramic plate awarded the world Guiness record

On September 9, 2019, at the conference hall at No. 272 Vo Thi Sau Str., ward 7, District 3, Ho Chi Minh City; Chu Dau Ceramic Joint Stock Company – a Member of BRG Group was honored to be awarded the World Guinness Record its 1,000-word “Long” in calligraphy ceramic plate - a masterpiece of traditional culture of Vietnamese handicrafts by the Association of Vietnamese Records

Unique features of 1,000-word “Long” in calligraphy Chu Dau ceramic plate

The plate has a diameter of 1.2 m with two main colors: yellow enamel and the blue shown in patterns. The most unique feature of the largest Chu Dau plate is 1,000 words "Long" written on the plate which are 1,000 sketches of human portraits such as soldiers holding guns to defend the Fatherland, naval soldiers with boats and the sea, Hanoi girls, flying dragons, birds, fishes, shrimps, musical instruments, flowers. There are also other traditional patterns such as chrysanthemums and string flowers that are typical features of Chu Dau pottery on such plate.

The plate was handcrafted by 10 ceramic artists from Chu Dau and calligraphy artist Le Thien Ly through many stages lasting over 200 days including: Mold making – materials making - pouring carpentry - throwing - drawing patterns motifs and burning. The materials for making the plate were carefully selected: White clay in Truc Thon area, Chi Linh - A spiritual land. Kaolin is exploited from the northern mountainous region - Hung King land, which is matched with water source from Kinh Thay River from Luc Dau Giang blending into the soil to form a good mixture. After the painting is completed, the product is covered with a natural enamel layer extracted from rice husk ash – a kind of enamel that won Vietnam Record. Therefore, Chu Dau Ceramic has distinctive enamel color compared to other ceramic products in the market.

Chu Dau Ceramic is a high-class antique ceramic of Vietnam which is considered as a symbol of Vietnamese culture and selected by the Government, organizations and businesses as gifts in important diplomatic occasions as well as important or foreign events of the country such as the APEC 2017 in Da Nang, the summit for peace in Hanoi...
At present, some Chu Dau Ceramic art works have been preserved and displayed in 46 famous museums in 32 countries around the world including Tokyo - Japan, Istanbul - Turkey, and New York City of America. Chu Dau ceramic products have been exported to about 30 countries and territories worldwide.

With the unique feature of the product and the efforts to revive and develop the high-class Chu Dau Ceramic which represent deeply the Vietnamese culture, Chu Dau Ceramic products have been honored to be awarded by General Vo Nguyen Giap with with 9 golden words " Chu Dau Ceramic – the Essence of Vietnamese national culture” and Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc with 10 golden words “Chu Dau Ceramic - Vietnamese National character, shining over 5 continents”.
