“Legacy is not just what is immediately visible, but values that endure over time.”

Some legacies are not defined by publicity, but by their enduring presence in social life, in established business standards, and in cultural values preserved for generations to come.

For BRG Group Chairwoman Madam Nguyễn Thị Nga, a leader’s success is not measured simply by scale or growth speed, but by one core question: what does the business leave behind for society and the nation.

Vietnam is entering a new stage of development with urgent requirements for deep integration, green transformation, and digital transformation. The image of today's leader is not just in the executive role – but also in the role of architect: creating standards, creating sustainable values, and creating meaningful long-term development legacies.

Creating a Model Business in the Flow of National Development

With a journey of more than 30 years of development, BRG Group has gradually affirmed its position as a multi-sector service enterprise, pioneering integration and sustainable development across fields: hotels, entertainment, real estate, finance, golf, retail to production and trade services.

Few people know this path was not always smooth. "In 2008, during the global financial crisis, we faced a choice: scale down to preserve what we had, or continue long-term investment in areas that did not generate immediate profit," President Nguyễn Thị Nga recalls. "We chose the second path, not because it was easy, but because we believed a crisis is also the moment to lay foundations for lasting value."

Under her leadership, the Group has steadily advanced its international integration vision, bringing Vietnamese enterprises closer to global standards while preserving identity and core values. Across every sector, BRG demonstrates the mindset of a pioneer: pursuing growth while setting sustainable development standards that improve people’s quality of life.

In President Nguyễn Thị Nga’s development philosophy, business cannot be separated from social responsibility. Every investment decision and project is considered within the nation’s broader socio-economic development, where business interests move in step with community interests.

In the 2024 - 2025 period alone, the BRG Group ecosystem and its member companies have spent more than 583 billion VND on social security activities, focusing on essential areas such as supporting infrastructure construction, schools, hospitals, health centers, caring for disadvantaged children, poverty reduction, building charity houses, overcoming natural disaster consequences, and protecting the environment.

Those numbers reflect a sustainable development approach: business as a model citizen, actively accompanying the government and society in solving the long-term problems of the community and urban areas.

“A business only truly develops sustainably when its growth is associated with the development of society.”

Legacy of Resources: When National Responsibility Becomes the Compass

Unlike the thinking of "contributing after achieving success," President Nguyễn Thị Nga chooses to set social responsibility as an essential part of the development strategy, not a side activity.

Prioritizing resources for heritage conservation and urban environmental improvement, bringing the community products and services of the highest quality... reflects a long-term vision – considering investment for the community not just an obligation, but a foundation to create a sustainable development environment for both business and society.

This approach requires perseverance and bravery, as effectiveness cannot be measured in the short term. But it is that persistence that has created "silent legacies" - long-term values that contribute to improving the quality of life for the community.

Legacy of Integration: Bringing Global Standards to Vietnam

If national responsibility is the vertical axis of development thinking, then international integration is the horizontal axis that expands the growth space for Vietnamese enterprises.

President Nguyễn Thị Nga does not view integration as symbolic presence on international stages, but as a process of dialogue, absorption, and transformation of global standards into the internal capabilities of domestic enterprises.

Her participation at the World Assembly for Women (WAW!) in Tokyo, as well as exchanges with World Trade Organization (WTO) leaders on training women entrepreneurs and preparing the workforce for digital transformation, reflects a confident and proactive Vietnamese woman leader engaging in today’s defining issues: women’s empowerment, digital transformation, green transition, and inclusive development.

“Integration is not about dissolving identity,
but about learning and raising standards to create value suited to Vietnam’s realities.”

More importantly, integration thinking is translated into business operations: from operating standards and service quality to a development philosophy rooted in sustainability and respect for people.

Human Legacy: Investing in the Future Through Education

In long-term development strategies, President Nguyễn Thị Nga consistently emphasizes one decisive factor: people. For her, this is both the most sustainable legacy and the most meaningful long-term investment.

The “Nurturing Dreams” scholarship fund, established in 2015, is a clear example. After more than a decade of implementation, the program has supported 219 disadvantaged students, with aid levels steadily increasing to VND 1.5 million per month from 2025 and total support approaching VND 13 billion.

“The greatest value a business can create is to help open opportunities for future generations.”

Quietly and without fanfare, the scholarship fund reflects a consistent philosophy: investing in education is investing in the nation’s future, and timely support can open entirely new life trajectories for individuals.

Vietnamese Excellence in the Rhythm of Modern Development

Amid the fast pace of modern development, President Nguyễn Thị Nga has consistently viewed the preservation and celebration of Vietnamese excellence as a durable anchor in BRG’s growth strategy.

This spirit does not conflict with modernity. It is integrated harmoniously into the development approach: bringing international standards to Vietnam while respecting cultural identity and national core values.

With the aim of reviving and promoting Chu Dau Pottery, a ceramic tradition with nearly 600 years of history, President Nguyễn Thị Nga has devoted significant effort to preserving and developing this traditional craft, bringing products deeply rooted in Vietnamese identity to international markets.

This blend of tradition and modernity is also reflected in new development models, notably the North Hanoi Smart City project, expected to become a symbol of Vietnam-Japan cooperation and to move toward the region’s first carbon-neutral urban model.

Leadership Portrait: Discipline - Dedication - Courage

In President Nguyễn Thị Nga, leadership is not defined by grand declarations, but by discipline in governance, dedication to people, and resilience in the face of volatility.

It is the style of a leader who understands that sustainable growth requires clarity, decisiveness, and the ability to make decisions that may not deliver immediate gains, but are right in the long term and humane in value.

When asked about the most important leadership lesson, she answered simply: "Don’t try to be the fastest in the race. Make sure you are running in the right direction, and never leave anyone behind."

When Women Create Legacies

On International Women’s Day (March 8), the story of President Nguyễn Thị Nga is not only a personal story of success. It is a vivid affirmation of the modern Vietnamese woman: one who inspires not only through words, but by creating value through action and responsibility.

According to data from the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), women currently own and operate nearly 30% of enterprises nationwide. However, in large corporations, the proportion of women in senior leadership remains modest. In this context, President Nguyễn Thị Nga stands out as a pioneering figure, not only because of her leadership role at group scale, but also because of how she has shaped and redefined the model of corporate leadership toward sustainable development and international standards, particularly through the early adoption of ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) in corporate governance.

The legacy created by President Nguyễn Thị Nga does not lie in titles, but in the development standards she has established and the social values she has cultivated.

It is an unostentatious legacy, yet resilient enough to endure across generations: a legacy of responsibility, standards, and confidence in Vietnam’s future, created by women themselves.
