Chairwoman of BRG Group wins “Outstanding Vietnamese Entrepreneur Award 2022”

On October 12, 2022, Madame Nguyen Thi Nga, Chairwoman of the BRG Group received the honorary title “Outstanding Vietnamese Entrepreneur” in 2022. The award, given by His Excellency Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the President of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) Pham Tan Cong, is recognition of Madame Nga’s outstanding business performance, display of national pride, and important contribution to socio-economic activities. Madame Nga is also named among six of the most generous contributors to Vietnam’s effort to fight off the COVID-19 pandemic. During the event, Madame Nga and BRG Group pledged VND500 million to a solidarity programme under the Central Committee of Vietnam Fatherland Front to build 10 houses for underprivileged families across the country.

Along with Madame Nga, nine other Vietnamese entrepreneurs were named as the top 10 outstanding entrepreneurs of the year for their excellent accomplishments and contribution to the country’s socio-economic development and modernisation. Every entrepreneur is an example, a good story of entrepreneurial spirit, bravery, intelligence and social responsibility.

The “Outstanding Vietnamese Entrepreneur Award 2022”, which has been launched with many holistic reforms, aimed to honour Vietnamese entrepreneurs, who have set examples for the Vietnamese business community with their business excellence and ethics, as well as their national pride and dedication to the country’s sustainable development. 

The award this year was the first implementation of the Code of Business Conducts and Ethics for Vietnamese Enterprises, introduced by the VCCI on May 19, 2022, which requires Vietnamese entrepreneurs to not only excel in business but also shine as an example of business ethics and well-received by society. An award committee comprised of industry experts and journalists was sent to visit businesses and interview all nominees for the award. 

“The Outstanding Vietnamese Entrepreneur Award” is the most prestigious national award for best entrepreneurs and recognition for the business community by the VCCI under the guidance of Politburo’s Decision 09-NQ/TW on December 19, 2011, and the Prime Minister. The award, also known as the Thánh Gióng Cup, is held every three years and Madame Nga has been a winner in all three events. The event this year was honoring and awarding “Outstanding Vietnamese Entrepreneurs” titles in 2022 to 60 entrepreneurs, including the Top 10 Outstanding Vietnamese Entrepreneurs.

Under Madame Nga’s leadership, BRG Group with a 22,000-strong workforce has become Vietnam’s leading brand in import-export, commerce, retail, hotel and hospitality and golf among others. Besides BRG’s business activities, the group has always been supporting the Government and society in community work. Since the outbreak of COVID-19 in 2020, under the management of Madame Nga the BRG and SeABank New Lifeforce Fund has donated more than VND200 billion to COVID-19 relief efforts across the country. 

Always committed to helping disadvantaged people, in 2022, BRG Group promptly provided up to VND300 million to households in Thua Thien - Hue province who had been directly affected by the devastation wreaked by Typhoon N^o4 (Noru). The BRG Group also gave VND500 million to the Fund for the Poor in Hanoi at the launching event “The peak month for poor people and Hanoi’s social security in 2022”.

Madame Nga’s dedication to the country and the community has been recognised with numerous other awards and merits by central committees, ministries and associations including the nation’s Labour Medal First-class, the Prime Minister’s Certificate of Merit, the Ministry of Industry and Trade’s Certificate of Merit and the Hanoi People's Committee’s Certificate of Merit for her continuous contribution on the business front and community works. BRG Group, under Madame Nga’s leadership, has also been honoured with the Labour Medal Third-class for its continuous contribution on the business front and community work.

Outside of Vietnam, Madame Nga has been honoured by the regional and international business community with the Woman of Impact Award, ASEAN’s Outstanding Women Entrepreneur Award, the Top 50 most influential women in Vietnam by Forbes Magazine Vietnam, the Asia-Pacific Spirit of Enterprise Gold Standard Award and the “Most Powerful People in Golf in Asia” by Asian Golf Magazine, etc.
